FAQ
Is storage hosting the same as subletting?
No. Subletting transfers possession of premises to a sub-tenant. Packhood storage hosting is a service contract for renting space to store items — your business retains possession and control of the premises throughout.
Can I host space in a leasehold property?
Most commercial leases allow incidental storage use; some require landlord consent for any sub-licence. Check your lease before listing. The responsibility to comply sits with you.
What about VAT?
If your business is VAT-registered, you charge VAT on the rental. Packhood's 5% commission is also subject to VAT in qualifying jurisdictions. Issued invoices include the breakdown automatically.
Can I do an off-season auto-pause?
Yes — set seasonal availability windows in the listing dashboard. The listing auto-pauses outside your defined window so renters can't book during your busy season.
What about insurance for commercial-tier renters?
Renters are responsible for insuring their own stored contents. For higher-value commercial loads, we recommend agreeing proof of cover with the renter directly before move-in, and the Host Guarantee covers eligible damage to your space.
