Storing your possessions with a stranger requires more than five-star reviews. Packhood is built on overlapping layers of verification, Stripe-based payment escrow, the Packhood Host Guarantee and recourse — most of which you'll never see, because they prevent problems before they happen.
Identity & Stripe verification
Hosts complete email and phone verification, then Stripe Connect onboarding (which performs Stripe's KYC) before their listing can accept bookings. Renters complete email verification at signup; Stripe Identity may apply at checkout (3-D Secure / SCA where required). The host's exact address is shared with the renter only after a booking confirms.
Stripe payments
Payments run through Stripe. When a renter clicks Book Now, Packhood places a temporary hold (PaymentIntent with manual capture) for the first month's amount. The host receives nothing until they accept the booking. Refunds always return to the original card via Stripe — bank posting typically 5–10 business days.
Host Guarantee — up to €300
Every booking includes the Packhood Host Guarantee: up to €300 per booking, aggregate across all claims for that booking. It covers renter-caused damage to the host's space. Eligibility: verified host, accepted+paid+active booking, pre-move-in photos uploaded, prohibited-items and access-rules compliance, claim filed on time. Renters may also arrange their own contents insurance for high-value items.
Cancellations, refunds & disputes
Renter cancels ≥72h before Start: full refund. Renter cancels <72h: 50% refund of the first month. Host cancels at any point: full refund to the renter. After Start, either side ends with 30-day notice. Safety / force-majeure cases get an immediate refund. Disputes are reviewed by Packhood's trust team using full audit trails (actions, messages, Stripe IDs).
Data & GDPR
GDPR by design. Personal data is processed and stored in the EEA where possible; some data is shared with regulated processors (Stripe, Twilio, ID-verification providers, cloud hosting) — see the Privacy Policy for the full list. We don't share your data with the other party until a booking confirms. Right to access, correct or delete your data on request.
